Hi All, I was recently asked to transcribe a Myrick/Rugg speed picking exercise that was released I'm assuming in the 1970's. It came with a country sounding 1541 backing track. Probably in one of the few pedal steel fanzine or magazines that was released long ago. Not sure when exactly. But, the point is that: * It's a great right hand exercise for utilizing two fingers * It shows you how to connect a major scale together across 3 strings up and down the neck instead of in 1 position. * It's a clever way to use a G major scale across any G Major related progression. I don't play a lot straight ahead country gigs so I could write it off as not useful, but if you simply change the progression to something more "jammy" and less straight ahead it becomes wildly fun and useful especially if I add a little envelope filter! Here it is with the tab and backing track: https://jeffsguitarandsteel.com/lessons/song/video-lesson-myrick-rugg-speed-picking-straight-ahead-vs-jam-band/1746 Enjoy! Jeff New to my site?
